Arizona State University (ASU) has officially re-entered competition in the sport of Archery!   Archery ceased to be a varsity sport at ASU in the early 1990’s due to ASU Athletic Department  decisions.  Until that point, the program had won more national titles (men's archery 15 times, women's archery 21 times, and mixed archery 20 times) than any other athletic group at ASU while additionally boasting numerous World and Olympic team members and medallists.

Sun Devil Archery is bringing that winning tradition back to the Valley.  As such, a few dedicated archers have joined together to form a campus club to promote the sport and its competition.

2007 Shut Up and Shoot... a new kind of tournament

FUN Format FITA ~ The Shut Up and Shoot event is designed for those who just want a weekend full of flinging arrows and fun.

Information            Reg Form

  •  We will shoot 7 arrow ends and score the top 6 arrows (long distances), and 4 arrow ends scoring the top 3 (short distances).  Think of the extra arrows as mulligan's... we've all wanted them, now you get them.
  • There will be no scopes allowed on the line.  You can have your scope behind the line and you can check it during shooting or after the end is over, but when you're on the line you're just there to shoot.
  • We're going to shoot the short half first so that Day 2 is a little more up for grabs.
  • Archers and the Peanut Gallery are actively encouraged to "help."  Folks from behind the line can call arrows for you or trash talk (within decency).  In fact, you can talk or tease while you are on the line.  Anything goes as long as there is no contact with the archer or his/her equipment.  Safety first, but... BRING IT ON BABY!
  • Music if we can figure out how to have music going during the event (and yes, we mean during shooting) we're going to do it.  In fact, bring your own boom box and let's turn them all on at the same time!  Hopefully we can agree on one station.
  • No dress code. You want to shoot in bathing suit or camo then by all means, be our guest.  Just please, try to be somewhat respectful.  Spandex and Speedos just really shouldn't be worn by some people in public.  I think we'll give a prize to the best outfit (again, within decency).
  • 2 divisions Compound and Recurve.  The distances for each age group and M/F will be respected, but when it comes time for awards all we're looking at are scores and Compound/Recurve.
